I wasn't quite sure what to expect tonight going into the meet but as usual my expectations where exceeded. 

We did short events (100's of each stroke and 200 relays) which always leads to a quick meet (time wise) ... we were in and out in 90 minutes including a 2 breaks equaling 25 minutes.  Most of the women (as in pretty much all of them) had 3 events, so the short rest doesn't usually lend itself to decent performances...but tonight we had some really great ones. 

The results are up there for your review ... the team has a much deserved day off tomorrow and morning off friday...hard work continues Friday.

2 great days of racing...click HERE to view full meet results.  We finished 2nd out of 4 teams, behind Cal and ahead of Kutztown and East Stroudsburg (moving up 1 spot from last year!).  I didn't get a chance to take any pictures via the iphone, but will try to steal a few from facebook.

Returning all american, Britt Rehrig had a great meet with 4 PSAC cut times, including a NCAA b cut in the 50 free, also good enough for an all time top 5 performance (3rd)...and a new pool record in the 100 breast.   But she wasn't the only swimmer with some great swims to name just a few...Freshman Kayla Schnars lead the way in backstroke, Senior Rachel Vagnoni stepped into her own in the breaststroke races.  Sophomore Kristen Capretti broke out with some fast free swims and although freshman Carley Nitchie breaths wayyyy too much in a 50 free her times are pretty close to her best ever.  Junior Shannon Milstead picked up right where she left off at PSACs last year.  Our distance crew showed they can swim fast ... all of them (in comparing to last year's meet) were significantly faster.

Next up is Mansfield at home this Wednesday...I will get the stats and top time etc updated after Wednesday.

What a great day first day of racing.  Yesterday afternoon at practice I told the women I was "giddy" and super pumped to watch them race ... I was not disappointed.  We had a great warm up ... busted out our "last name caps" and BELIEVE shirts for the session.  Tomorrow is the TEAM shirt.

I would love to go through each event with highlights, but I am watching LHU student Brian Keefer and his family on ABC's Extreme Home Make Over on dvr so I will give a good update tomorrow evening after the meet ... in the meantime check out the full results.

First Meet of the Season ... finally

First meet of the season is upon us.  We are hosting the 2nd annual Haven Quad Meet.  With a unique order of events we will get through everything (except the 800 free relay) in 2 days.  We welcome fellow PSAC institutions, California University of PA, Kutztown University & East Stroudsburg University.  These same 3 schools also participated last year.

Friday event we start at 6pm ... Saturday we start at Noon.

I am "giddy" with excitement for this meet ... can't wait.  Our women have been working so hard for so long that they are just itching to get some racing in.
