Vulcan Invite Day 2

Just as in Day 1, we had some pretty solid swims and some great relays. We had several swimmers go much faster than last week when the team was training hard through the meet, but for those that are resting down this was meet 1 of 2 looking for a fast swim.

The format of the meet was different than previous years, and I am hoping to go back to the multiple dual meet format next year. I feel it makes more sense for us at this time of the year and gets everyone a chance to race some off events.

We got take out at a local restaurant, but because of the snow it was inaccessible by our bus. Jimmy, Joey, and I proudly did the walk for our hungry swimmers. A longer trip home due to weather, but we were glad to be home safe around 6pm.

You can check out the full results and LHU release HERE.

We've got a week until our last regular season meet, the Haven Invite. We're looking for some great swims from our group that is resting and some good swims in off events from our PSAC qualifiers. We'll also be honoring our 5 Seniors. That all begins 1pm this Saturday, be there!

Mansfield and Kutztown

After a HARD 2 weeks of training we made our way an hour and a half up route 15 to Mansfield for our first meet since November and hosted Kutztown the following day at home as part of a huge day of athletics at The Haven.

As they traditionally are at this time of year and in this time of training, times were off, but its all about the racing right now.

Friday we picked up wins in 9 of 11 events,  with individual wins from Danielle Parowski, Allie Muha, Kristin Taylor, Kayla Schnars, Carley Nitchie, and Kaitlyn Druby. The medley relay of Schnars, Druby, Kristen Capretti, and Nitchie picked up the win as well as the 200 free relay of Capretti, Parowski, Abby Miller, and Parowski.

On the drive home our team stopped for an early dinner at Jamie Mason's restaurant The Venture Inn. The team agreed it was delish and we'll make it a regular stop to Mansfield!

We went the longer 16 event format with Kutztown on Saturday, swimming both 100s and 200s of every stroke. We had some very close races, but fell 152-106.

Kayla Schnars had a pair of wins in the 100 and 200 backstroke events and Kaitlyn Druby had a HUGE 200 breaststroke to pick up the win.

Our 200 free relay of Capretti, Nitchie, Miller, and Parowski finished the meet with the win, and our B relay of Megan Dunn, Jamie Mason, Schnars, and Druby narrowly fell to Kutztown's A relay.

Its promising to see so many of our swimmers racing to the very end, even when they're exhausted. Half of our team will begin a full rest this week and through the Haven Invite February 1st, so our swimmers are looking forward to some chances at some fast swims.

We'd like to thank Dr. Erin Kennedy for stepping in as our Faculty Captain for the day on Saturday. We appreciate your support year round of all athletics, and you're welcome on the pool deck any time!
