No Lane Lines...And the Beginning of Winter Training!

Friday the ladies heard the three best possible words in the English language when it comes to being a swimmer at Lock Haven…”No Lane Lines”

Winter training is by far the hardest part of the season, and before we kicked it off we finished out finals week with an “hour of power”, where the women tread for a constant hour.

During that time, we had them pass around full jugs of water as a team. If they dropped it, it meant an all out 50 (without touching the sides). After a few 50s, it was very positive to see the team work together and accomplish the task without dropping it, even with 4 going at the same time.

Saturday morning was the kickoff of the most intense training phase of the season, with an hour dryland and a two hour practice. Its exciting to see our swimmers step up to the challenge and push themselves, and even more exciting to know that it is all for getting to that desired results at the end of the season!

 GO HAVEN!

Saturday Morning Practice

Great morning workout this morning for our women! They got things going with an hour of dryland going through three different circuits involving core, stretch cords, and everyone’s favorite…squat jumps!

After that, the women broke off into their groups, but with a half hour to go in practice they all came together to do the final set as a TEAM (even with all the planks and wall sits they had to do). This upcoming week is finals (light practices all week) and then its winter training kickoff! Today was  a great way to finish a great week of practices! GO HAVEN!

Haven Holiday Parade!

On Saturday our team participated in the Lock Haven Annual Holiday Parade. This was a cool event that essentially the whole community came out to.

This University is a huge part of the Lock Haven community, and it was excellent to see the unified group of LHU athletics marching holding the Lock Haven banner. As someone who has grown up in this community, I am so pleased to see our women be part of it. We have a great group of athletes here at LHU, and Saturday was just another fine example of that. I could not be more proud to be here in “The Haven”!

Millersville Meet 11/30

The Millersville meet was a great example of what the women can accomplish when they come together. We were coming off a great meet at IUP before Thanksgiving, and this was a great meet to follow it up because to do well, the team had to get up and RACE!
Our women picked up wins in 8 of 11 individual events, and everyone truly contributed to the cause. Some highlights of the meet were:

-The 200 medley relay started us out with a 1st and 3rd place finish

-Britt Rehrig won the 50 and 100 freestyle with times of 24.58 and 54.50 respectively.

-Allie Muha had a great 200 IM with a 2:21.08, finishing 1st by only .09. This was a great complete swim with her racing until the very end!

-Kristin Taylor winning the 100 fly with a 1:02.38

-Kayla Schnars stepping up from the very beginning of her race and winning the 100 back with a time of 1:03.07

-Laura Stephens winning the 100 breast with a time of 1:09.70

-The 200 freestyle relay of Stephens, Schnars, Shannon Milstead, and Carley Nitchie finished 1st with the meet on the line with a time of 1:44.16

Our swimmers had a “Lucky Suit” (recovery) practice Saturday morning.
2x
20 minute swim/10 minute kick

Very proud of how our swimmers performed, very excited to get to the Winter Training phase!
