Successful first session at the John Pidgeon Invite!
The morning session of day number one is generally over
pretty quick as there are only prelims for 3 events, the 500 free, 200 IM, and
50 free.
500 Free
Allie Muha had a great swim and was not too far off of the
PSAC cut with a 5:25.80. This swim was pretty impressive and I’m looking
forward to seeing what she can do tonight (seeded 4th going into tonight).
Emily Shultz had a lifetime best of 6:25.90, and senior Britt Maguire had a
great 6:22.23, which is the fastest shes been at this point in the season.
200 IM
Taylor Mutschler got
us started by going out in a 2:26.26, a 4 second drop! Britt Rehrig swam what
may be her final rested 200 IM of her college career and went a 2:09.27. Ciara
Conklin, who has been fighting a recent injury dropped nearly 3 seconds in her
first swim of the meet.
50 Free
Amanda Thomas was our first swimmer and she came out in a
30.72. Abby Miller and Kayla Schnars had great swims swimming side by side,
going 26.66 and 26.77 respectively. Laura Stephens got her PSAC cut in the 50,
going 25.26, as did Carley Nitchie with a 25.08. Brit Rehrig, after just
swimming the 200 IM about 10 minutes before put up a 24.51, getting the 2nd
seed going into tonight.
After the session, we had our first time trial of the meet.
Senior Shannon Milstead wanted to get a shot at the 200 fly and didn’t want to
wait until Saturday since she has been fighting a shoulder injury. She got her
qualifying time and then some! She needed a 2:18.38 and posted a 2:16.54.
That brings our current list of PSAC Qualifiers to 4:
Brit Rehrig
Carley
Nitchie
Laura
Stephens
Shannon
Milstead
The most fun thing in all of swimming is going out and
swimming fast, and we’re looking to keep it going! Keep following us on
twitter, where I’m trying to post results as closed to they happen!
GO HAVEN!
