Crimson v. White
Couldn't think of a better way to get our racing season started.
We saw 3 meet records broken. Freshman Allie Muha broke the 500 free record of 5:42.50 (previously held by Kelly Grieneisen) with a time of 5:42.08. Britt Rehrig established 2 new records. First was the 100 back record of 1:02.67 (previously held by Amanda Terray) with a time of 1:02.01. (this was also good enough for an all time top 5 performance) also broke the 200 im record of 2:26.05 (previously held by Amanda Palmer) with a time of 2:18.74.
What was most striking was our depth. With the addition of some really talented freshman to our already talented squad we have more than 1 person than can excel in each event. It has also made for some really fun practices. We finished the day off with our new home meet tradition of tale gating up in Gym #1. Delish!!
This week starts Phase 2 ... which will add in some doubles & Saturday workouts.

Record Board
After a few year hiatus Adam and I put it back together this morning. We are hoping to have many updates to do throughout the season! We have a few minor corrections to make before this weekend, but I wanted to share with our followers the update!
Also, this morning the crimson and white teams redid the bulletin boards around the pool. A few are still a work in progress, but we will get them on here when they're all done.

Swim Across America with the Kinards
Senior Janel Kinard (left) and her sister (Anna a recent graduate and 4 year swimmer from Shippensburg University) recently participated in the Swim Across America. All money raised went to Cancer Research at John Hopkins University.
Congrats on a job well done!

Sorry for the delay in posting...
It has been awhile since our last team update. We are in the final week of our swim school (aka lesson) program and I am pretty happy with how the annual fundraiser turned out.
Saturday will be our intra-squad/alumnae swim meet meet. We have heard from a few recent alum who plan on swimming along side the team this year. Pretty awesome.
Our teams were finalized after a pretty intense game of paper rock scissors between Nicole F & Kasey B to determine which squad gets which "color".
Winner of the game (Nicole) selected CRIMSON for herself and the following swimmers, Capretti, Rehrig, Druby, Muha, Miller, Vagnoni, Schnars, Kaleck, Henry, Mutschler, Smith & Taylor.
Meaning the loser of the game (Kasey) got "stuck" with WHITE for herself and the following swimmers, Milstead, Durham, Conklin, Nitchie, Kury, Kinard, Curran, Mallams, Navarro, Brooks & Maguire.
The order of events is as follows:
200 medley relay
500 free
50 free*
~ break
100 fly*
100 back*
100 breast*
100 free*
~ break
200 im
200 free relay
* = 2 heats
Last year's meet ended in a TIE, so we will see just how well Adam Stoner divided up the teams.

Dry-Land
This morning's workout was our first Dry-Land session. Most of the pictures ended up a little blurry b/c the women didn't stop moving for the entire 60 minute session!

Day 1 of the 2011 - 2012 Season
Tomorrow (wednesday) we will be kicking off our season with our new first practice tradition ... time trials. Each of the women will be swimming their 3 strongest events (some of the distance women will swim an 'off/shorter' 3rd event).
The expectation is that each of the women will be 5% of their lifetime best swim.
Due to some ridiculous class schedules this fall we are going to have to start the trials bright and early!
Stay tuned for some updates...
