Meet vs Mansfield!

A great meet yesterday with our team taking the win over Mansfield 123-71. The house was pretty packed, which always makes it a fun environment for a meet!

200 Medley relay of Taylor Andress, Kaitlyn Druby, Kristin Taylor, and Carley Nitchie took 1st with a time of 1:58.46.

Danielle Parowski took first in both the 1000 and the 500 freestyle. Her time of 11:10.63 was enough to land on the All Time Top 5 list in that event! She currently sits at 5th!

Kristen Capretti continued her great start to her senior season by winning the 200 free, 100 free, and had a 25.5 split in her final relay. Jamie Mason dropped more than 5 seconds in the 200 free and Meghan Kuhn dropped 6 seconds. Great swims!

Carley Nitchie had a great 50 free winning with a time of 25.89.

Allie Muha, Kristin Taylor, and Liz Barney had a very exciting 200 IM, finishing 1-2-3! Allie took 1st with a time of 2:23.31

After our 10 minute break, Kristin Taylor and Allie Muha were back in the water swimming the 100 fly. Along with Kaitlyn Druby the trio completed another 1-2-3 finish, this time with Taylor taking first (1:03.36), Druby 2nd (1:04.69) and Muha 3rd (1:06.37).

Liz Barney had a great showing in her first college 500 freestyle, finishing in 5:57.91. Emily Schultz dropped over 15 seconds from her time a month ago at the Crimson and White meet.
Kaitlyn Druby had a season best 100 breast with a time of 1:12.95. Amanda Thomas and Ciara Conklin also had their best times in the season in the event.

The final event featured Abby Miller, Capretti, Mason, and Parowski taking first in the 200 free relay with a winning time of 1:46.97. The B relay of Andress, Schultz, Kuhn, and Megan Dunn raced their hearts out and almost got 2nd. Their final time was 1:56.56 and showed just how much of a complete day of racing that we had.

Very proud of the 100% effort that our team gave throughout the meet and I’m hoping we carry that momentum going into the Chatham Invite next weekend in Pittsburgh!

During our first 10 minute break we had some local swimmers from the Lock Haven Loggerheads (Emily Schultz’s former team) and the Jersey Shore Bullfrogs (Jamie Mason’s former team) swim a 25 before intermission. The kids all had a blast and stuck around to watch the rest of the college meet. It was our pleasure to have them race here at The Haven!

Thank you again to our Haven Swimming parents and family members for putting together our Team Tailgate. Its one of my favorite team traditions that continues to get better and better!

We are back in action this Saturday back in the Haven against Mansfield. Meet starts at 1pm in Zimmerli!

Get Out Swim

We have 2 Haven Swimming birthdays this weekend so we had to do something special--Get Out Swim it is!

After about 30 minutes of abs and a long warm up, the first year Haven Swimmers got themselves ready for a race. We did time trials 1 month ago, and their goal was to beat a time they put up there. If 4 out of 7 of them matched or beat their time, the entire team would get to go home. They were 7-7, with some major time drops.

Very impressed after a long week of hard work. We've got a 3 hour dryland/swim practice booked for tomorrow morning to finish this week off the right way. Very proud of this team!

GO HAVEN!

Swim Lessons!

A GREAT Haven Swimming tradition! Our swim lessons are giving our women a chance to work with local kids from the community and they have a fun time while doing it!

In the early part of the season, we take 8 evenings to have swim lessons. Its hard to believe that we have already been through a week of lessons.

The program will run through October 3rd. If you've missed out don't worry, we will have another session in the early spring!

Wednesday Afternoon Work

Practices have begun and the women are working hard! We have been lifting 3 times a week this season instead of just 2, and I think we will see dividends right away from this extra work!

The set below is the one we did at yesterday afternoon’s practice. The set is continuous, rest is built in. What was so great about it was that after a hard day of lifting at 6am and a full practice, the women really got up to race as a team. We have time trials on Saturday morning and I am looking forward to seeing where their times will be at heading into the season!
